blue october is approaching normal
Image by Guus Krol via Flickr
lyrics are great as usual. so, no change from that aspect. for now,I believe songs "should be loved" and "kangaroo cry" will most likely have 5 star rating on my iPod. in my opinion, blue october is approaching normal! :P

5 months since last post...

I don't even know where to begin. Tons of stuff happened since I posted the last post. So yeah, like Andy Williams would sing: "Where do I begin, to tell the story...".
Like I said, many stuff had changed. US & A has new president, and as they like to say, he's first African-American to become president. Beginning the 20. January, he will be 44th to occupy the White house. "Yes we can!", or shall I say "yes they can". I can't tell you how much the whole thing annoyed me, the electoral campaigns of both candidates, with very low and for my common sense not approved "dirty messages" about the opposite candidate. It's something we are not used to back home. You would never see such "commercials" about other candidate approved by the one who payed for it. Why wash dirty laundry first person, when you can have (probably) payed journalists do that for you. HA HA HA... Well don't take this as it's the way it is, I just believe back home we do it more "smooth". Why would you accuse other candidate of being Muslim, when some public newspaper journalist, can do that for you. :)))
Anyway, the race for president of US & A is over. Mr. B. Obama kicked Mr. J. McCain's ass, even though I thought people in this country are still too much of a racist to be ready for this step. Well, if you let a black man vote before you let a woman vote, then you know that something is going terribly wrong with the country. No, I'm not a racist, even though I love to tell jokes based on the American stereotypes. I just don't see why a man has more credit then a woman. It's probably the "wrong" way I was raised. My parents would always try to encourage me to think critical. Don't judge people based on the way they look, skin color, type of dress, the way they speak......... I could go on and on. I might grow up in too liberal environment, but I don't think I really had an option. :) I'm the mix of little bit of everything Yugoslavia had in days when we were one country. So yes, it' pisses me off big time when they say "the first African-American"... what happened to white half? I guess Americans are still stuck at that 1% rule... which in short means if u ever had some black blood, you automatically fall in category black. Which brings me to question what am I... Slovenian? Serbian? Croatian? To me, it's just funny how people would like to make it all "straight-clean". I like to erase that strictness with: "I'm Yugoslavian.". Even though, country as federation doesn't exist for almost 18 years now. Funny ha? Well, to me it is. I love my mom, and I love my dad. And let me tell you, I'm careless from which country their parents come from. I'm gonna love them anyways.
I never really finished my Obama thought. Yeah, I would vote for Obama. Not because he's black, but simply because his plans for future of American working class actually make sense to me, even thought I would always cheer for the Soviet guy in movie of Rocky Balboa. :)))
Anyway, I'm glad this whole thing is over. Let's home my man B. Obama will at least try to do what he promised... especially for the class I'm most concered about, working middle class, which I believe was left behind in past elections. All I ask my American readers of this blog... just give it some time, it takes some time to see changes...
YES, YOU CAN!
P.S.
Happy birthday Sonja! I hope you have a hack of the year! Good luck with your plans... Hope I get to see you here sometime soon. Should be nice to have you here for a visit...

Just let us be...
There are some things I can't and don't want to explain. I don't expect anyone (but her) to understand that somewhere far away from here I saw stars. The stars I could finally reach, even though they would appear and shine only when she would turn the light off. Yeah, she's definitively the one to understand what I'm talking about. You don't know her, so please don't try to tell me she's going to change, don't try to convince me that she's gonna go wild... Just so you know, she already is wild... :)I really don't expect anyone to understand it, but when:
With her around, the horizon seems wider.
With her around, world makes more sense.
With her around, words get deeper meaning.
With her around, nature becomes more clean.
With her around, snow becomes more fun.
With her around, the map to universe appears.
With her around, thoughts make more sense.
With her around, mornings are something to look forward to....
And I love her!

Home sweet home...
After quiet and nice little goodbye at Newark airport in New Jersey, and almost 8 hours I landed in Frankfurt, Germany. As you can see, I welcomed myself with a cold can of Beck's beer. Yeah, having beer at the airport, without hiding it from public sure did make my day.
It took me few more hours to wait for my flight to Ljubljana, which had a little delay, but it was all good. No biggy...
So..... I'm home at Ljubljana's airport, waiting for my bags... and when I wanted to rush out, two customs officers stopped me:
C.O.: "Do you have anything to declare?"
B.B.: "No."
C.O.: "What is the destination you're coming from?"
B.B.: "US & A, why?"
C.O.: "We are going to check your personal baggage and other bags."
B.B.: "Sure, sir, help yourself."
C.O.: "I'm sure you have some iPhones with you."
B.B.: "Really? Please find those for me. Because I can't seem to find them."
C.O.2: "Look, there is the guy who works in customs IT... He must be waiting someone."
B.B.: "Yes, he's waiting for me, I'm his son."
C.O.2: "Oh, really? That's nice. He's a nice guy."
C.O.: "Sir, everything is ok, you can go now..."
B.B.: "Thank you sir, no iPhones though, ha?"
C.O. & C.O.2: "Have a nice day sir..."
B.B.: "You too, guys. And good luck with iPhones."
That was f**ked up, but it's OK, it's their job. At first I thought my dad set the whole thing, but he didn't. It was still funny though.
And it's nice to be back home.

So this is it...
...school is over... my GPA dropped from 3.185 to 3.148. Which is not that bad I guess, if I take a good look what classes I had. Financial accounting was the biggest pain in the ass. And since I started with F, I'm glad I have C+ after all. Plus, I was registered for 17 credits, which is not much, if you don't play sports. And I know some of you know how time consuming that might be. All in all, I learned many new things this semester. I must mention, that I really did enjoy meteorology class. Thanks to Mrs. Goodman, I understand weather forecasts better, and what all those letters and numbers are.
It's funny how things can change in one year. The 360 degrees spin... I'm leaving tomorrow, and for the first time, I wish I could stay few more days in the land of capitalism. I want to do some traveling. Even though, I spend most of the time with Aimee, I'm 100% sure I need to spend even more time with her, once I come back... if I come back. Well, at least that's the plan. (Don't worry, I still like you, even though your GPA dropped to 3.8 from 4.0... :) effin Brits, they always mess things around. lol )

Anyway... the plan is to see Niagara falls, which I always wanted to see... Let's just hope that interview for new visa will go smooth.
See you all my Slovenian friends next week! Should be fun! And I already have a job set for the summer. Very nice! :) Oh, oh, oh... the book of Goran Vojnovic... is it any good? Anyone?

Almost there...
...it's funny how time flies by?! Two more days and my 4th semester at BCC will be over. There were good times and there were bad times, but all in all, I must say I had a good time.
There were some recent happenings which I really don't want to discuss, but that's life. I hope everything is going to come to the positive balance. And that what life is all about, balance... Right? In little more then a week I'll be back home, probably working my ass of, to earn those "sweet" papers with some value.
I'm looking forward to see all of my friends who I must say I miss pretty a lot. :)) Oh, yeah, Polona and Anze, congratulation! You two know what I'm talking about. For all others, they are engaged. Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii... Nice, nice, nice...
On the other hand, I'll miss my folks here. Especially my basketball crew. So much fun we had. And I must say it felt go damn good to run over the intramural all-star team by 20 points. I really enjoyed that game. I wish we had more of those. Fun, fun, fun! And I must say it feels nice to be able to jump high again. I missed those altitudes and hang time. Who said white man can't jump??? LOL
Well, I can't finish this post without mentioning all the fun I had with my little genius Aimee. It's gonna be a cold lonely summer... :) I wish money was not a problem, and the coast of Europe was a swimming distance away from New York...

Italian peace artist slain in Turkey...
Believe me, there are many things that pisses me off here in US, but this time news comes from Europe. No matter how few persons try to send a message to make a difference in this "effed up" world, there is always some retarded human being, to "eff up" those nice efforts of those few to make a change. In this case, some Turkish guy killed Giuseppina Pasqualino di Marineo, known as Pippa Bacca, who was hitchhiking with a friend from Milan, Italy to Jerusalem dressed in wedding dresses as part of what they called "Brides on Tour." The Web site for di Marineo's project said it was her "dream" to hitchhike across the war-torn areas of the Balkans and Mediterranean dressed as a bride to promote peace.I really don't want to go in details about what really happened. It's just... it doesn't make any sense!
Anyway, here are some works of Pippa, which I find very interesting... LINK
Spring time baby!
Yes! Finally, spring time... It's nice to see how grass is replacing, for not long ago dirty, muddy and lifeless fields. It's also nice to see more people with smiling faces, sleeveless shirts, shorts, flip-flops (even though it's still too cold for my narrow Euro-minded standards)...
It's funny how few sun rays make such a big difference in this boring town of Binghamton. Even I am excited more about Spring, then I used to be back home. If you'd spend one year in Binghamton, you'd definitively know what I'm talking about. Somehow, the sky is more blue, birds sing happy songs and walking by the river gets more exciting, as Sun reflect it's image more positive, that even cute duck couple find it funny playing "the love story" in a dirty river of Chenango.
Anyways... It's nice to be able to release some stress while outside catching warm, gentle and sometimes dangerous sun rays...

I'll be soon back home to Slovenia. There are couple of things I'm looking forward to, once I reach the land of protests that been going on in all sectors recently. I can hardly wait to buy a copy of book that just recently came out, "Čefurji raus" by my friend Goran Vojnović. I never thought he has as much talent in art as he had in basketball. It's nice to see basketball players (even thought retired) writing books, shooting movies... Respect! As my first coach Vojko Herksel (1959 - 2007) used to say "Basketball is for smart people...". And may he rest in peace.
Back to Goran. I'd like to use the chance to make an advertisement for his book. You can find short part of the book here, so you can get the little taste what is going on. I hope someday this would be translated to English, but it would probably lose the purity of the original. Good luck with your future projects man!

Almost 3 months since last post...
Binghamton, 4.December, 2007
OK, it has been almost 3 months since I last updated this blog... so what has been going on? Almost nothing, I decided to publish posts in English, since some of my friends here in US said, that they have no idea what I wrote in the past. And those who had been to US and A for more then 3 weeks, know how Americans feel when someone speaks other language around them...
So, school and basketball have been keeping me busy most of the time. And in my free time, I try to relax and hangout with my friends here. I met lots of new friends last semester... maybe it would be better if I put pictures, so you have more idea what is going on...
A team picture after one of the games in pre-season (October 2007)
My and my national flag... new edition to my collection. Yes, still a Yugoslavian soul...
Birthday party for my birthday... 26 baby!
New season, new number... RIP Drazen!
European connection - Freshmen guard from Denmark, Nicholas Kjaerholt & me before the game
My main Harlem boy - Tyrek Coleman
Some of BCC basketball members...
Milos, Igor, Miladin, me, Borisa & Zoran
And the last one... my main basketball girls... even though little Brittany doesn't play it anymore... Alyssa, Brittany, me & Brittany
Yes, I barely put that T-shirt off... You have to understand, I'm making a statement hahaha...

Bojan Burnac may be thousands of miles away from home in Slovenia, but in the international office at Broome Community College, he says he's home.
More and more students like Burnac are calling this office home, when they come to BCC.
"It's a good start with small classes the teachers can focus on you and they're nice," says Burnac.
According to college administrators, international student numbers are up by 16-percent this semester compared to the spring and over the last five semesters it's jumped 77-percent. A jump that administrators attribute to foreign students' respect for degrees from New York state colleges, and the efforts of international recruiters.
"We help students get here. we smooth the process. It can be overwhelming to get your passport and your visa and move to another country. We try to make it as easy as we can," says Dr. Laurence Spraggs, the president of BCC.
And one thing that makes that process easy: the internet, especially e-mail communication.
"It's a huge recruitment tool because it's easy it's fast and it's convenient for everybody. And everything is done in writing and it's clear and that helps a lot with immigration regulations," says Beverly Plowucha, the International Student Counselor at BCC.
But Burrnatch will soon have to find his niche somewhere else next year when he moves on the from college that gave him his start. For him, it's a good start to a new beginning.

Sani in njegov drugi Final 4
6/Maj/2007
...verjetno bi vsak cudno pogledal (tudi oni so), ko bi pritekel iz sobe in vpil "He finally did it!" :))
J.Edwards je dopolnil 20 let, Sani pa je v drugem poskusu osvojil naslov evropskega klubskega prvaka...
Cestitke obema!
(Skupinska slika posebej za Sanija! haha)
